On Tuesday 1st November 2016, Ryedale School collaborated with Peter Thundercliffe of Thundercliffe’s Fishmongers, based in Helmsley. Peter delivered a fantastic fishmonger workshop to all Year 10 Food Preparation and Nutrition students.
Peter kindly visited the students in school, demonstrating a number of skills including how to fillet a wide range of different fish, how to dress a crab and how to prepare a lobster.
Peter has supplied the school with a stock of haddock, which students will be attempting to fillet for themselves.
Once the fish is filleted, students will be making a batch of fishcakes using a range of skills learnt both in the workshop and in their food lessons.
Miss Wallis and the students would like to say a huge thank you to Peter for making this workshop possible and such a fantastic experience.
We look forward to working with Peter again in the future.
