Trips planned for this academic year
Every two years in the Easter holidays we take a group of students on a ski trip to France.
We find that France provides students with excellent value for money, superb snow and ski conditions and extremely comfortable accommodation. The trip is offered to students in Years 7 to 9 when the trip is launched 18 months in advance. The trip offers students of all abilities the chance to experience six days of skiing where they receive expert tuition from English speaking instructors.
We have been running ski trips for over 10 years and are able to use our knowledge of the French Alps to select new and appropriate bases each time. The trip offers a fantastic opportunity to sample the experience of skiing abroad. Each trip includes seven or eight members of staff, the number is decided on a 1 -10 staff pupil ratio. All staff are experienced in taking school trips both at home and abroad. The staff members attach themselves to a different ski group to provide extra support to students during ski lessons. Evening entertainment is a big part of the ski trip and we go swimming, bowling and enjoy pizza evenings during the week.
On average we take 80 students on each trip. This means that during the ski lessons, students are split into ability groups of approximately 10/12 students allowing for excellent progress throughout the week’s lessons. The lessons are provided by English speaking ESF qualified instructors. They take place on a variety of slopes from Nursery to Black slopes and most students make significant progress throughout the week.
The accommodation we use is always a French Clubhotel, this offers English speaking staff, ski technicians and management. Ski hire is provided by the hotel, this includes ski fitting of new or nearly new ski equipment. The rooms usually occupy between three and six pupils. The accommodation includes breakfast, lunch and a three-course evening meal with a games room where the pupils can relax after a hard days skiing.
This can be made in instalments over a period of time. Our parentpay system is the most efficient way to pay and allows parents to keep track of any payments made and any outstanding amounts. Payments can be made in a lump sum when the first payment is due or on a monthly basis until the final balance is cleared.
More specific details of the forthcoming trip can be found on the initial letter to parents which also includes a link to the resort we are using in 2020.
