On Monday 20th April, Year 8 pupils were given an exciting opportunity to visit Bewerley Park for a weeks residential course. Bewerley Park is located in the heart of the Yorkshire dales and offers high quality outdoor education by using ‘real’ outdoor environments.
We were blessed with fantastic weather as the sun shone all week. Pupils took part in a range of activities such as rock climbing, abseiling, sailing, canoeing, hill walking, orienteering, gyhll scrambling, caving and mountain biking.
On the course pupils were encouraged to develop their personal, social and emotional skills by allowing them to take responsibility for their own decisions. This enabled them to achieve and recognize their full potential.
All pupils seemed to enjoy the week and it was an excellent learning opportunity. It gave pupils the chance to build on their self-confidence and improve team work skills. It was a thoroughly enjoyable week and I am really looking forward to running the course annually for future Year 8 pupils.
