The Kirkbymoorside 4K run proved to be another successful event for Ryedale School pupils. A recent addition to the Kirkby 10K programme it provides an opportunity for teenage runners to take part and so it was great to see our Years 7-11 take up a large number of places in this increasingly popular event.
As the morning rain eventually cleared some welcome sunshine warmed the 360 race competitors taking part in the 4K and 10K races cheered on by the large crowds who had gathered in spite of wintry conditions.
This year the annual race was celebrating its 15th anniversary and as they have done every year a musical accompaniment was provided by the Kirkbymoorside Town Brass Band who themselves are celebrating an anniversary, their 200th.
Year 7 – 1st place Martha Calton-Seal, 2nd Katie Gamble and 3rd Olivia Darrell.
Years 8-9 – 1st place for Harriet Eve, 2nd Isabelle Horracks from Hymers College Beverley and 3rd Abi Smith from Ryedale.
Year 10 -11 in 1st place Hannah Bayes from George Pinder School, 2nd Mhari Maxwell and 3rd Rebekah Lally both from Ryedale.
Year 7 – 1st place for Finnian Hutchinson, 2nd Herbert Antcliffe of Ryedale and 3rd Aiden Glover from Beverley Grammar.

Terrific results – well done to everyone for taking part and a BIG thank you to the race organisers and all those volunteers who supported this year’s event. A percentage of the runner’s entry fees will be donated to Ryedale School PTA.
