The Ryedale School Equestrian Team attended the very popular and well attended qualifier at Bishop Burton last month. Everybody rode superbly in very large classes with the 85cm show jumping team, containing Erin Smith, Ruby Thompson, Hattie du Boulay and Daisy Lumley achieving 5th position alongside Erin who achieved individual 3rd – well ridden girls.
The successes didn’t end there as the 95cm show jumping team, comprising of Erin Smith, Katy Mintoft, Ellen Winter and Ruby Thompson rode four beautiful clear rounds to achieve 1st prize for the team, with Erin also achieving individual 1st and 5th and Katy individual 4th. This qualified the team and Erin on both her horses to attend the National School Championships in October at Addington Manor, Bucks.
Erin and Katy then went on to compete in the 105m class, a height that both girls are relatively new to and they gained a fourth for Katy and a fifth for Erin – excellent effort girls.
The Ryedale teams did not stop there for on the following day, in a stiffly fought stylistic contest, our 85cm team, consisting of Daisy Lumley, Erin Smith, Hattie du Boulay and Elizabeth Molyneux qualified to attend the national championship too for jumping with style. Erin Smith also achieved individual success and qualification for the national finals in the 105 jumping with style class – well done Erin.
The largest contingency of horses and riders we’ve seen, set off at the end of last week to compete at Addington Manor. Good luck to the team, their horses and ponies.
