On Wednesday 7th December all year 10 and 11 students at Ryedale School were involved in an informative and fascinating assembly with a number of officers from North Yorkshire Police. The assembly was an extension of the knowledge that students already have about drugs, the law and the consequences of taking drugs.
North Yorkshire Police used this opportunity to ensure students were well educated about drugs, they also brought in a member of the dog section, as well as two working Police Dogs that work within the police force identifying drugs and explosives.
Students learnt how the dogs are trained and even saw the dogs in action, successfully sniffing out pre-hidden training devices.
I hope that the session not only educated the KS4 students about drugs, the law and what the Police do, but perhaps even encouraged some of our students to consider the Police as a career.
