The hockey tournament was a brilliant success for our year 9, 11 aside hockey team at Lady Lumley’s School. We played 3 matches, all with great outcomes. Our excellent play up front combined with brilliant clears from our sweeper Sophie Foster-Rain and solid defence from Lily Baum and allowed goal keeper Millie Thompson to clearly see the gameplay and make some fantastic saves.
The first game we played was against Eskdale School from Whitby which resulted in a 3-0 win to us. Goals were from our Left Attack, Madi Wilkinson who scored one and two from captain and right mid, Autumn Head. The second game was against Lady Lumley’s which we knew was going to be tough but luckily we came out with a 1-0 win with a beautiful goal from our centre forward, Evie Copley.
The final match was against Malton who we played previously this season which had resulted in a win. This match was won 2-0 with goals again from Madi Wilkinson and Autumn Head. Defence and attacks both worked extremely well and which prompted us to go home with a well-deserved win.
Overall it was a great afternoon and a good start to hockey in 2019.
Autumn Head (Captain)
A fantastic team effort…the only team at the tournament to score goals!
