Ryedale School dominated the Hockey Partnership tournament, with the A team finishing as champions and the B team runners up. Verity Fullerton-Smith, captain of the A team has written short tournament report below:
Tuesday 4th November saw the Year 8 Ryedale A and B hockey team go to Caedmon School to participate in the Partnership Tournament.
Overall, the A team remained unbeaten by winning five of their games and drawing one. They beat: Caedmon, 1-0, Fyling Hall, 2-0, Ryedale B team, 1-0, Eskdale, 2-0, and Lady Lumley’s, 1-0 and drew with Malton, 0-0; with only six minutes for each match, they did very well. Verity Fullerton- Smith scored four goals, Casey Johnson scored two and Lucy Walker scored one. Many of the goals were scored due to the excellent assistance from Polly Mumford and Abi Smith. There was some great defending by Amber Mason and Morwenna Talling and wonderful goal-keeping by Amy Hayhurst.
The Ryedale B team were also highly successful, winning three matches, Lady Lumley’s, 2-0, Eskdale, 1-0, and Fyling Hall, 2-0. Izzy Levin played well on the post resulting in two goals and Hazel Williamson, Emma Cockerill and Megan Degazon all scored one goal each due to their fantastic team work.
In conclusion, Ryedale A team won the tournament and the B team came a close second.
