Return of the Pearl of Africa Children’s Choir

Ryedale School is gearing up to welcome back the Pearl of Africa Children’s Choir. Families are hosting them from Sunday 5th to Sunday 12th October, and their concert day at school Monday 6th October, with evening performance at 7pm. Tickets are now available from the School Office, or by emailing [email protected], or by telephoning 01439 771665. This will be their fifth visit to school, and it will be such a pleasure to welcome them again.

Below is a video made by Julius, who visited us last year, made earlier in the summer. He is filming Cissy, who has also visited Ryedale School with the choir, as she introduces us to her primary school, near Kampala. We also meet Rose, her head teacher, at the end of the video. She talks about the improvements that have been made at her school since the choir started touring England, including being able to provide regular meals for them. However, the contrast between their school and ours is so stark. As you can see, they still need our support, pupils whether it be paying your £1 for non-uniform or adults by buying tickets for the concert. It will be great to see them again next month.
