Eight students from Year 9 represented Ryedale School in the inaugural National da Vinci Decathlon, hosted by Ampleforth College.
The team took on ten academic tasks, ranging from art and poetry to cartography and chess, and competed against schools from as far afield as Scotland and the south of England. The students were extremely impressive, working hard throughout the day, demonstrating both superb endeavour and academic ability.
The team achieved first prize finishes in code-breaking, ideation, and engineering and finished in a well-deserved third place overall.
It was a fantastic day to be part of and we very much hope to participate in the event again.
