Year 7 Netball win District Tournament – again!

The Year 7 netball A team travelled to St. Augustine’s school to play in the District Tournament; the pressure was on because the school had won the tournament for the last 5 years.

Ryedale School Year 7 netball team

Our first game was against Scarborough College with great work all over the court we won 7-0. The second game was against Scalby, it was a good and fair match but we won 4-0.

Next it was our toughest game; against Malton and, with a great defence (GK Daisy Feather, GD Katie Mularney and WD Heidi Maxwell/ Eve Copley) we drew 3-3 with their equaliser in the last second.

After a good break we played St. Augustine’s. We played well and won 5-1. Next up were Lady Lumley’s, we won with great attacking play (GS Caitlyn Large, WA Ebony Simm/Autumn Head and C Issy Nicholls) 8-0.

Our biggest win was against Filey, where the final score was 9-0. The next matches were against Graham and Eskdale – they were both good matches with another two wins for Ryedale.

After all those matches we had one game left and the pressure was mounting… Our final game was against Caedmon College. It was very, very close but we scraped a win, 2-1.

After a nervous wait, the winners were announced – “Ryedale”.
We did it! It was very well earned result by the whole team.
