Year 7 netball – District Champions

On Thursday 17th March the Year 7 A team had a district county netball tournament at Graham School in Scarborough. We played 9 matches in total! It was a beautiful day to play netball and everyone was in a good mindset for the games ahead.

Year 7 Ryedale School Netball team

Our first match was against Fylinghall, it took us a while to get warmed up but we still won 8-0. A great start to the tournament! Next we played Pinder which we won 6-0, another great result. After that we played Lady Lumleys which we had already played so we knew their weaknesses and we won 5-0. With another win under our belts everyone was feeling quite confident but that didn’t knock our play because we went on to play Scalby and won 4-2! A great team effort. Next were Norton and we won 11-0 an excellent game and some amazing shots by GS Izzie Mayfield. We had a short break before playing Graham which we won 8-0. Scarborough College were next and we won 7-0 with some excellent shots from GA Jasmine Graham and good passes from C Maggie Ndunda and WD Erin Smith.

With the last matches coming up it was vital we won them!

We played Filey and won 8-0. Our final match against St Augustines, it was a tough match and we only just won at 2-0. In total we scored 57 goals and only let 3 goals in all afternoon!! A fabulous attack from Georgina Eve and Fran Cumming and great defensive record from GKs Jess Jones/Cally Cousins, WD Kate Cockerill and GD Abby Ryder.

It was a long day but we were DISTRICT CHAMPIONS!
