U14 basketball team win Scarborough and District championships

Ryedale qualified for the event, which took place at Scalby School, alongside Lady Lumley’s School by winning the Ryedale Whitby Sports Partnership tournament. The top two schools from Ryedale played the top two from Scarborough in a knockout competition. Ryedale played St Augustine’s, Scarborough in the first semi-final, winning 48-2. Lady Lumley’s beat Scalby School in the second semi-final 28-16.

Ryedale then played Lady Lumley’s in the final.

Ryedale started well with Connor Saxby and David Coundon impressing. Near the end of the game Marcus Gatenby and Jack Brennan scored frequently pushing the game out of Lady Lumleys reach with the score finishing 28-14.

Bailey Crossland, the Ryedale captain, received the winning trophy.

Congratulations to the boys for a great performance.
