Ryedale School’s ‘Green Welly Club’

The Gardening Club have been very busy over the past few weeks planting up their raised beds. They have worked in groups and have been responsible for three raised beds. They were allocated a budget and chose what they wanted to plant. It has been amazing to see their commitment, especially in this hot weather. The beds look immaculate and we’re looking forward to watching them develop and being able to harvest some vegetables later in the summer.

Mr Gee would like to say a massive well done to all of the gardeners and a big thank you to those who kindly offered to help out at the recent open evening.

We chose to come to gardening because it is fun and we like being outdoors. It is also educational as we’re learning new skills. We have chosen a range of our favourite plants. We have grown potatoes for eating and have also sown peas to make it look more vibrant.

We enjoy gardening and love being outside. It is also a way to improve our gardening methods and skills. We have chosen to do an ‘all edible bed’ which includes: gold rush courgette, pansies, marigolds, tomatoes, nasturtium, cucumbers, lavender, chilli peppers, orange peppers and calendula.

We like gardening and thought it would be interesting to see what we could grow. We decided to plant marigolds because we thought that they look pretty and blend in well with the rest. We also chose baby pumpkins because we think that they looked really cool and would be interesting to grow.
