Ryedale School basketball success

Ryedale School Under 13 Basketball team qualified for the North Yorkshire County Basketball competition at York College after beating Malton School 26-4 in The Scarborough and District Final held at Lady Lumleys school. Ryedale played Fulford school (York Champions), Thirsk School (Hambleton and Richmond Champions) and Boroughbridge High ( Harrogate and Craven Champions).

Ryedale played Thirsk School in the first game winning 36 – 26. They then played Boroughbridge, losing 35-32. Fulford school had already beaten Boroughbridge which left Ryedale needing to beat Fulford by at least nine points in the last game.

The first half ended with Ryedale two points in the lead. Ryedale then completely dominated the second half with exceptional shooting and rebounding. The ended up eventual winners 34 -14. The trophy was presented by the event organiser Dave Smith to the Ryedale Captain Bailey Crossland.

Ryedale School Under 14 Basketball team continued their unbeaten season into the North Yorkshire County Finals at York College. The team qualified for the event held at York College by winning the Ryedale Whitby Tournament and then the Scarborough and District Final. This qualified the team to play in the County finals against the winners of the Hambleton and Richmond area, Harrogate area and York and Selby area.

Ryedale won their first game against Thirsk school 36-16, they then beat St John Fisher (Harrogate) 42-2 and then carried on unbeaten through the tournament by beating Fulford school (York) 37-18.
