We arrived at Camp Tinagol approximately 150km north of the state capital Kota Kinabalu, in the northwestern corner of Sabah and after three nights of jungle hammocks the long houses were a welcome sight!
On our arrival some of the locals performed their traditional victory dance, after their performance we were invited to join in! The team excelled themselves with their dancing skills and really got into the spirit!
This morning we rose early and trekked to the work sites near the middle of the local village. The team split into groups and worked on various projects: work on the kindergarten, the local water supply, the market place and beading. The level of determination and motivation is phenomenal and we’ve already made great progress on all of the projects.
Here’s a short video from Camps showing some of the facilities at Tinagol…
That’s all for now!
