AoS 4 Fusions

Afro Celt Sounds SystemEsperanza SpaldingFurther Listening

We’ve two exciting fusions pieces to listen to. The first is Afro Celt Sound System: Release (from the album ‘Volume 2: Release’):

Who are Afro Celt Sounds System?

They are a group formed in 1995, and mix electro dance music with influences from Ireland and Africa. Release was released in 1999. The band split in 2010, and then two versions of the same band have reformed with different members of the original band in different versions of the two new bands, joined by other musicians! Well, that’s cleared that up… Musicians can be temperamental sorts at times, as you can tell by looking at the two band’s websites, found here and here! Both claim to be the ‘real’ band!

Anyway, back in 1999 they were all friends.

Our last set work and second fusions piece is Esperanza Spalding: Samba Em Preludio (from the album ‘Esperanza’), from the studio and live.
