On Thursday 8th December, the award-winning writer Justin Hill spoke to years 10 and 11 to inspire the next generation of young writers. Hill gave an interesting presentation which covered the inspiration for some of his novels, for example, the time he spent in rural China and how this influenced his work.
Hill went on to talk about his works of fiction, in particular the specialised genre of historical fiction, which includes a novel about Harold Godwin. Writing techniques were the final subject of the presentation, with Hill talking about how the alteration of just one simple phrase can change an entire novel.
After the presentation, students were given the opportunity to ask questions which proved very thoughtful and a chance for the students to learn a little bit more about writing as a potential career.
